I see folks saying creators of books and movies tried to warn us.

the problem is not literary or movie ignorance. the problem is there are a lot of folks, most of the folks who voted for trump and as large number of moderates who dont feel the need to vote as they consider both paties too extreme (i dont, i fnd the GOP extreme and the Dems too modersate for me, so i hold my nose, give money, volunteer and vote for democrats, until there is a realistic choice for real progressives who can win) but between those two groups, there is a majority of Americans who are happy with this latest turn, this threat to what progressives in America see as a destruction of our founding principles, this majority see it as correcting all the “bad things” the Dems have built and accomplished since the new deal.

It is easy to forget FDR was opposed by about 30% of the country, and that was while he embraced the racist and sexist and anti immigrant policies of the Dem party of the 1930-1940s. Dont be surprised that a majority of americans are happy with what is going on now. Too many white liberals are not supporters of black americans, too many black folks are not fans of an immigration policy that allows more brown folks in. too many brown folks are as racist as the white folks.

i think Trump is being cheered on by a lot folks who should know better. yes, the 40% of us who see him as a threat are organizing and protesting, and that is wonderful, but please dont think he is as roundly hated and feared by the general public. that day may come, but we are not there yet.

keep figthing the fight, keep exposing the hypocisy, the theft, the violation of the rule of law, but beware, it will have to get a lot worse for the huge swath of moderates, especailly the folks Dr. King made famous, “the white moderates” wake up to the destruction.
