This old fart was firmly in the pro-Israeli camp until Oct 8. The mass killing of innocents by the Israeli forces made me reexamine my life long support. I know many folks my age, and older, including our 80 year old president, have not yet followed the path of close examination, have not taken a close look at our own Eurocentric history, and somehow still support the genocide and see the young people protesting as trouble makers, not as guiding lights toward a more decent and moral world.
For me, I can never support a state of Israel, unless it is reordered as a fair and equitable partner, unless it fully pays for the horrors it has inflicted on the people of Palestine. In fact, as i do not see the people and especially the govt of Israel waking to the new reality, I foresee the self-inflicted end to the state of Israel in my lifetime.
If I am correct, it will be a tragic end to what could have been a workable relationship.
